Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

Matthew 7:2-4

We are so quick to judge!  This verse really spoke to me the first time I read it.  For days I thought about how often I scoff at others for their actions, but never look at myself, or ways that I should improve.  I am SO quick to tell Husband that he isn’t doing something right, when I do things wrong as well.  I am inclined to think poorly of someone for scolding their children in public, or letting their children run wild, when surely there are things that I need to do to improve as a parent.  So WHY do we look at the speck of a problem in our friends life, while ignoring problems in our own lives?

I think because it is EASIER!!! It’s easy to be a hypocrite. It’s much harder to be self-aware.  Lets all give it a shot for a while.  Focus on what YOU need to do to improve your life, and not what others need to do.  Cant hurt, can it?
